9:40 pm - Goodbye Publicity Stunt
I'm sorry to say that after years of having a public journal, I'll be making it 'friends only'.
I'd rather not have to deal with people's childish personal attacks, several of which I have been subject to since I started writing online. Everyone currently on my friends list will remain there.

Please Comment if you wish to be added.

12:44 pm - Poetry for Ping Pong
In an effort to make my day more exciting, I am now forcing anyone who wants to annoy me by aggressively pounding a ball back and forth to write me a poem first.
I'm still waiting for the requisite Haiku.

9:49 pm - Pointless Exercise
I hate writing paper outline's.
I have an abstract idea in my mind of what I want, and I don't want to put it on paper for anyone.
I'll probably change topics in the end anyway.
-----------------
edit: got a 90% on the outline, so at least I'll have a happy morning.

5:53 pm - And I Have a Job Interview Tomorrow
My allergies are driving me nuts. They're not supposed to start this early. There's still snow on the ground.
They seem to get worse by the year. I *can't wait* to see how bad they are when I'm 80 (assuming that I live that long).
Anyway, they kept causing my airway to fill up with gross fluid all night and I guess my brain would wake me up every time it started to affect my breathing, cause I felt like I was choking every time it happened. It was kinda scary, actually.

A friend of mine was saying that the reason so many people have spring allergies is because most of the plants gardeners/landscapers etc. plant to make public spaces pretty are the male plants. Female plants are too messy or something. But male plants are the purveyors of pollen. Which causes allergies. ack.. Spring used to be a fun time of year. Now (spring is) a no-win situation.
For some reason it seems to be especially bad when I'm at work in jockland.

I guess the excuse that I'm allergic to working out is now valid.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
edit: Job interview went ok. not bad/not great. Between that nasty mid-afternoon coffee habit and my allergies going crazy I tried to talk faster than my mind was working and ended up looking like a babbling nervous idiot. *sigh*
someday I'll master the job interview.
I suppose I should sign up for toastmasters and get over my fear of speaking in front of groups. Or just get drunk first.
At least I can write my thoughts down better than I can articulate them in everyday speech. Or so I have come to assume.

I feel like going to a pub where they play nothing but britpop and having a drunken sing-a-long.

Somehow I think I'll be waiting til my birthday for this wish. (I need to amass enough people in one place)

What!? No Beowulf and Grendel?
Good ol' pathetic Kelowna movie theatres...
This is the same city that took months to jump on the March of the Penguins bandwagon. So I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

My Mp3 player refuses to speak English or French.
grrrr
Also, I can't find my favourite New Order CD. To download it all would be sich a hassle.
Although that should surprise no one as Mike finally picked up his (mostly) complete CD collection and we now have well over 1000 of the damn things lying around.

I've decided I want to take up curling b/c I have this weird correlation in my mind between curling and bowling. And I like bowling... so yeah...
I just have no idea how to go about getting involved in the sport. Or even how to curl. Or most of the rules, for that matter.
Does Kelowna even have a curling rink? I've never seen one.

2:23 pm - It's About Time
So I'm flipping channels yesterday, and all of sudden I see Royal Canadian Airfarce on channel 6. This seems odd to me. 6 has always been an American channel. Then I look at the bottom of the screen and see the exploding pizza logo (that's what they call it). Kelowna has a bona fide 100% CBC T.V station! Finally! This means CBC programming 24/7!

4:53 pm - Another Useless Rant
I always find it so amusing that anytime Im in middle of writing an exam (especially really long ones), my mind will drift off into some other world completely unrelated to what Im supposed to be writing about.
Like today I was supposed to be talking about the hegemonical domination of the mass media and how this causes the negative representations of certain groups (via the owners of the means of production- always gotta throw some Marx in).

Meanwhile my mind is like "I wonder if consuming a certain amount of coffee in conjunction with stress/adrenaline causes one to sweat as much in such a situation, or whether this also be hereditary..." while Im staring blankly out the window.

At any rate, I wrote a miraculously long essay (brevity is not the soul of wit in the social sciences) that amounted to 10 pages, and I feel relatively good about it.

uh so yeah.

Ive had way too much coffee today and almost no food. I feel like Tweak must.

There are very few things on this planet as annoying as teenage volleyball players of the female variety. And their parents who bring an army of screaming little shits (I can handle one or two, but not, like 50)and then don't obey any rules. Obviously rules don't apply to them, because they are baby boomers.
It's far too early for me to be dealing with this stuff.

I'm just waiting for a toilet to explode under one of their asses.

1:27 pm - Socialization or Enculturation?
You know what really annoys me?
Getting an 'A' on a paper and all of the comments from your prof being positive and about what a good job you did. Instead of mentioning what you did wrong that averted you from achieving that much coveted 'A+'. I suppose I could go visit during office hours...

I am so socialized to believe that everything in this life comes down to how many 'A's' one attains in university. At least I recognize that aspect of my being, while a lot of people remain oblivious, kinda like the whole "Im not affected by advertising" perspective that so many people try to convince everyone else of. Once you know a little bit about semiotics, you begin to realise just how often you are affected...

I guess that was a bit off topic for this post.. I guess my point was that my current upper-division GPA is around 79% and I'd like to make it 80% so I can graduate with 'honours'. And then I can go to grad school.

3:31 pm - Boob Jobs Are So Much Easier
So here I am, close to a month and a half after getting my wisdom teeth yanked from my skull with (almost) no complications (pesky overactive capillaries) and all of a sudden yesterday my lower left socket area decides to swell up to mammoth proportions. Can't eat non-soft foods, yawning hurts, and I have the same nasty bad-breath-causing-yucky-tasting fluids that I had the week after the surgery.
Kinda confusing.
So naturally I spent roughly two hours of work researching (and subsequently unnecessarily worrying myself) the complications of the wisdom tooth extraction process.

So it could be:
a) an infection (although unlikely this late in the healing process since Ive kept the area quite clean; however I did have a sore throat last week)
b) a nasty pus-filled abscess caused by leftover bits of root or bone
c) some joint problem also known as TMJ
d) I ate something sharp (like a cracker) and my gums reacted badly.

Ibuprofen does nothing for the problem and I have to wait until tomorrow to see the dental surgeon.

*sigh*
Happy Valentine's Day to me, since Ill be spending it eating soup.
------------------------------
edit: it's now wednesday morning and my face has swollen to the size of a small grapefruit.

current mood: in pain
